GRANT RECIPIENTS ANNOUNCED FOR PENSACOLA’S EIGHTH ANNUAL FOO FOO FESTIVAL, NOV. 3-15, 2022

Today, the Pensacola Foo Foo Festival Committee announced the public grant scoring for the eighth annual Foo Foo Festival, naming 12 grant recipients and allocating more than $400,000 in grant funding for this November’s events. Following an impressive number of submissions, this year’s grant winners include Pensacola Little Theatre, Stamped LGBTQ, Pensacola Museum of Art, Legal Services of North Florida, Friends of Downtown, Choral Society of Pensacola, Jazz Pensacola, The University of West Florida and The Frank Brown International Foundation for Music, Pensacola Symphony Orchestra, Pensacola Opera, Great Gulfcoast Arts Festival and Pensacola State College. The 2022 Foo Foo Festival will take place in Pensacola, Fla. from November 3-14, 2022.
The 2022 grant recipients will produce a series of events from the categories of live theater, music, film, art, comedy, and more at this year’s cultural celebration. Those non-profit organizations who were not selected, and for-profit partners who are interested in participating, are encouraged to do so as “Friends of Foo,” receiving local, regional, and national visibility during the 12-day event via the festival’s regional marketing campaign. About Pensacola Little Theatre
Pensacola Little Theatre is a non-profit community theatre that has been providing diverse theatrical experiences in Northwest Florida since 1936. About Stamped LGBTQ+ Film Festival
The Stamped LGBTQ+ Film Festival is dedicated to providing a vibrant cultural experience to Pensacola by using the unique expression of films with a specific focus on the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) community to foster awareness, inclusion, and diversity. 2022 will mark the Stamped LGBTQ+Film Festival’s 10th Anniversary, and the festival is committed to bringing the loudest, proudest, and most colorful festival to date to Pensacola Foo Foo Festivals’ eighth iteration from Thursday, Nov. 10, 2022, to Sunday, Nov. 13, 2022.
The Pensacola Museum of Art aims to facilitate the preservation, understanding, and engagement of visual culture for audiences in the Northwest Florida region and beyond through its permanent collection, interpretive programs, and a dynamic exhibition schedule. This year, the Pensacola Museum of Art will present Vandals to Vanguards: Seven Days of Street Art to engage the Pensacola community during the Pensacola Foo Foo Festival from Thursday, Nov. 3, 2022, to Thursday, Nov. 10, 2022. The Vandals to Vanguards exhibition will feature contemporary masterpieces by Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, and Keith Haring alongside current notorious street artists like Banksy and Mr. Brainwash.
About Legal Services of North Florida & Jazz for Justice
Jazz for Justice is a premier annual jazz event benefiting the Legal Services of North Florida, a nonprofit organization that serves low-income individuals and families across the Florida panhandle by providing free civil legal help to eligible clients. In its fifth year with Foo Foo Festival, Jazz for Justice (JFJ) plans to expand its cultural and music offerings by bringing well-known musicians and local artists together for a unique jazz and blues festival in downtown Pensacola.This year on Sunday, Nov. 13, 2022, Jazz for Justice will once again present a lineup of jazz talents and will also partner with the Pensacola MESS Hall to teach youth attendees about the world around them.
About Friends of Downtown
The mission of Friends of Downtown is to enhance the district’s quality of life and economic success by creating a cleaner, safer, and more enjoyable environment. From Nov. 3, 2022, through Nov. 14, 2022, Friends of Downtown will present “The Balloon Alley” – a never-before-done public art project consisting of floating, oversized balloons high above Historic Downtown Pensacola near Southtowne.
About Choral Society of Pensacola
The Choral Society of Pensacola, a staple in the arts community, exemplifies the city’s history of support for the fine arts. On Thursday, Nov. 10, 2022, the Choral Society of Pensacola will present a “Grease” Sing-Along at the Rex Theatre. The event will include a screening of the cult classic film “Grease,” costume contests, interactive experiences, and more.
About Jazz Pensacola
Incorporated as the Jazz Society of Pensacola, Jazz Pensacola is an organization of business and professional people, musicians, teachers, students, and listeners working together for the purpose of advancing jazz music in Pensacola and the surrounding area. On Monday, Nov. 7, 2022, will present a one-night-only concert with the internationally-acclaimed Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe at Vinyl Music Hall. Denson is known as the touring saxophonist for the Rolling Stones, but he and his band are so much more.
The University of West Florida & The Frank Brown International Foundation for Music
The mission of the Frank Brown International Foundation for Music is to bring the authors of original music out of the shadows and into the spotlight, to reach into schools to enrich lives and encourage creativity through music and to support businesses by increasing tourism in the Gulf Coast region. On Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2022, the University of West Florida and the Frank Brown International Foundation for Music will present “The Songs, Their Stories, A Symphony” at the Saenger Theatre. The show will feature three-hit Nashville songwriters, including Jon Nite, Rivers Rutherford and Brett James, who have close to 50 No. 1 hits between them.
About Pensacola Symphony Orchestra
The mission of the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra is to promote the well-being of the greater Pensacola community through excellence in live symphonic music and lifelong learning through engaging musical activities. On Saturday, Nov. 5, 2022, the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra will treat guests to a spectacular celebration of music and place with a program featuring four works for orchestra, including Robert Schumann’s Third Symphony, Felix Mendelssohn’s The Hebrides, Max Bruch’s Scottish Fantasy and Michael Senturia’s Petra.
The mission of Pensacola Opera is to enrich the culture of Northwest Florida by producing professional opera performances, educational programs, and other opera-related community events for people of all ages, interests, and backgrounds. On Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022, the Pensacola Opera will present the Forty Forward Concert, a one-night-only event celebrating four decades of Opera in Pensacola.
About Great Gulfcoast Arts Festival
The Great Gulfcoast Arts Festival was conceived in 1972 by a group of art patrons who wanted to expand the gatherings of local artists displaying their work in the Downtown Pensacola area. In celebration of the festival’s 50th Anniversary, the Great Gulfcoast Arts Festival will present a free concert on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2022, at the Hunter Amphitheater featuring 15-time GRAMMY Award-winner Bela Fleck and his Bluegrass band.
