Pensacola Opera to Recreate Three Tenors Experience during Foo Foo Fest

PENSACOLA, Fla., June 25, 2015 – Art, Culture and Entertainment, (ACE), Inc. today announced the recipients of $250,000 in grant funding for the second annual Foo Foo Festival (Foo Foo Fest), the upcoming fall festival of arts and cultural events to be held November 5-16, 2015.
Highlighting the list of grant recipients is the Pensacola Opera who, through their grant submission, have been awarded an $85,600 mega-grant to recreate the excitement and spectacle of the original Three Tenors with a free concert at the Pensacola Bayfront Stadium featuring the big vocals of world-renowned tenors Arnold Rawls, Adam Diegel, and David Portillo.
About the Performers:
- Arnold Rawls: Tenor Arnold Rawls has delighted audiences with his unique combination of vocal and dramatic skills in performances ranging from art song to opera. He has been hailed for having a powerful, clarion-sounding tenor, a firm, pliant lyric tenor with ringing high notes as well as a flair for acting.
- Adam Diegel: Tenor Adam Diegel rapidly is establishing international notoriety for an impassioned dramatic sense, powerful voice and for his classic leading looks in the lyric tenor repertoire.
- David Portillo: Praised by Opera News for “high notes with ease, singing with a luxuriant warm glow that seduced the ear as he bounded about the stage with abandon,” American tenor David Portillo has established himself as one of the leading artists of his generation.
Opera enthusiasts and pop music aficionados alike are sure to enjoy the exhilarating program of selections from well-known opera, Broadway musicals, and popular songs in a scale that has never before been presented along the Gulf Coast.
Foo Foo Fest, a 12-day celebration of the arts acts as a “marketing umbrella” for the period of time to help leverage the breadth and depth of the overall selection of events, which are comprised of programming provided by 21 grant recipients and many more existing events.
